Who we areThe Yankee Cruising Club was founded over 20 years ago to bring gay and lesbian boaters together to meet, make friends and most importantly get out on the water. We strive to be an open and friendly place for men and women to socialize and be themselves. We're boat owners and crew, lovers of the water, on sail or on power boats. We have extensive blue water experience, and we have very little. We are men and women, young and young at heart. We are in relationships and we are not, we are in search of partners and in search of friends to meet on the water. We are city dwellers and suburbanites. In short, there is no formula for us, except that we are gay and lesbian with interests in sailing or boating. As a result, we have different expectations for the YCC. To some, it means a chance to meet new people and have an opportunity to get an unlimited supply of crew (or of days on someone's boat). To others it simply means being able to recognize a burgee in a harbor, meet up with other boats and see New England with like-minded sailors. To others it's somewhere in between. YCC hosts many social events during the year, a great chance to meet other members and arrange times to go boating. Every July 4th we meet in Provincetown for dinner and fun and at the end of each season we have a laying up supper to mourn the end of the sailing season. In addition we strive to be an educational resource for our membership as well and work hard at providing useful resources and information. In short we are an open and friendly group of gays and lesbians that all love the water. |
